Meppad Gurukkal.
It is heard that 1000 of years ago one Shakta Siddha Guru came to land of Chengunni murikencherry by walking on the river called valapatanam puzha . His siddhis was recoganised by the Chirakkal raja Murikencherry family who was the Army cheif of Chirakkal raja.King himself accepted him as his spiritual guru He was honored the position of Spiritual guru of Chenkunni Murikkencherry family and also some other family related to king of kolasworoopam. later the guru had his samadi in yogagni and it is heard he vanished inside the present Meppad kalari temple. Aughatraya pratishta is worshipped here. He has Spreaded the kaulamarga Sri vidya kula and kali kulam across north kerala. Many of the kaula sampradayas have direct or indirect connections with this parampara. Chegunni murkkencherry and family associated with them was given initiation in to shatisadhana( Bala mantra)by this parampara. Even to day this parampara is invited to do Srichakra puja once in year to get blessing of their Ancestor( Guru karnavar) and blessing of Bala tripurasundari. Navaratri is the important Festival of Meppad kalaari temple.
